Disegnare. Idee Immagini was published for the first time in October 1989. It is a Sapienza Rome University fully peer-reviewed magazine, produced by the Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture responsible for its scientific contents and publication.
It is a biannual, fully peer-reviewed magazine focusing on a specialist sector. By adopting a scientific approach it intends to not only spread the culture of architectural and environmental drawing, but also provide in-depth data about the history of representation, visual perception and communication, geometry, digital modelling and architectural survey.
Members of the Scientific Committee include some of the most important international teachers in this field as well as experts from sister disciplines; the Editorial Committee is made up of international expert researchers. Both committees have turned Disegnare. Idee, Immagini into an important reference publication in its disciplinary field.
This well-known, completely bilingual magazine is published internationally and distributed in the United States of America and several European countries; it is also present in numerous Italian and foreign university libraries (including the Library of Congress in the United States).
The magazine is categorised in Class A by the National Agency for the Assessment of the University and Research System (Anvur). It is included in Clarivate’ list of products and services where it is indexed in the Art and Humanities Citation Index and in the Scopus database. It is also present in Ulrich’s Periodical Directory] and in Google Scholar referring the most important studies in worldwide academic research.
Disegnare. Idee Immagini has always maintained editorial continuity and has never changed the key focus of its contributions; by consolidating its prestige and role as a universal disseminator of knowledge it has been acknowledged by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as an excellent scientific magazine. The magazine is The Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (Barcellona) has declared the journal of great interest (15/05/06, doc. CG 15/05/06) for its role in the universal diffusion of knowledge. Specialized articles represent a very high percentage of the total; there are rarely informative articles, only for didactic experiments and scientific research results. Disegnare Idee immagini has many authors from prestigious foreign universities (about 15% of the total).
The magazine initially included abstracts in English and French; since 2002 the text is also in English. Each issue of the journal includes the authors' contact details. The referees list is published in the December issue.
Many foreign colleagues express their appreciation and admiration for Disegnare. Idee Immagini. For example, Professor Frank Ching who sent an email stating: “I received n. 49 of Disegnare this morning. Thank you for taking the time and expense to mail it to me! I am continually surprised at the quality of the journal, perhaps because I am unaware of any comparable journals here in the U.S. And thank you also for writing the article that accompanied my drawings.
